PALLIATIVE AND END OF LIFE CARE

WHAT IS PALLIATIVE CARE?

Palliative care is an holistic approach that aims to enhance the quality of life of patients and their families living with a life-threatening illness where they are no longer receiving curative treatment. Palliative care is multi-faceted, supporting not only the physical needs of the person but also their psychological, social and spiritual needs, and those of their family.

END OF LIFE CARE

End of life care helps people who are in the last months or years of their life to live as well as possible and die with dignity

PLANNING AHEAD

People receiving palliative care may wish to plan ahead for their future care including creating a Lasting Power of Attorney and Advance Directive. More information about the choices or decisions often faced by those approaching end of life can be found here
